1. Escitalopram (Lexapro) works in many at a dose that some naive people feel is too high. Some get help at 10 mg or 20 mg, but most in my practice need 40 mg. The drug concentration in an infected brain shows a flat dosing graph. There is no peak. These common, untaught infections are missed in about 95% of patients. What does that mean concretely? If 100 people are taking sertraline the doses range from 2 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg up to 600 mg. The “maximum dose of 200 mg is simplistic and devoid of tailoring.
4. Bupropion (Wellbutrin) should be started at a very low dose in the first week, but my typical dose for 70% of patients is 450 mg a day with a long-acting form. 300 mg is certainly not a high dose, nor is it the maximum dose.
