I was asked by a large entrepreneur what my treatments are. I asked, “For all biting insect infections?!”
So, I mentioned my 12 books and 400 Facebook posts as an introduction. [I am blocked by Facebook now].
Maybe I am impatient and not understanding everyone asks that question. “How will you cure my Bartonella, Lyme and Babersis?” You are right.
But, honestly, it felt like this kind man was asking me to discuss what it was like being “a man?” 😄
He is a smart guy who was overwhelmed with babysitting two preteens and trying to learn. I love that.
He has experience with biting insects like ticks, fleas and biting flies. And rescue pets.
In addition, research seems to show that healthy people have a bartonella infection at roughly 20%.
Treating Bartonella would be a 600-page reply to a clinician. What I am writing below is for high school students. Basic. Simple.
Bartonella Treatment Basics
1. Bartonella was really discovered in 1990, and in my research, we were the first to list the complete current 23 species that infect humans. Dr. Edward Breitschwerdt of Galaxy Labs kindly confirmed this.
Why mention?
We are still learning how to kill it. So large government medical agencies, who have no top thought leader, are often useless, yet they post treatments anyway. Many self-proclaimed Bartonella experts are lecturing physicians as infection doctors and offer useless information, most of it over 25 years old and incorrect.
2. We know that Bartonella increases IL-10 and drops TNF-alpha which hides it [Radiance Labs] . My point? Our approach is to kill some Bartonella to get a positive antibody test. And to move these two tests into the normal range.

3. How many treatments should you use?
Y. Zhang and Monica Embers showed in the lab that more treatments are more effective. For example, azithromycin can kill Bartonella (also see Schaller, Medscape General Medicine. 2007). But adding methylene blue, or rifampin, or both, is more effective than any alone. So, the basic point is three or four treatments are better than one. And my experience over the last 20 years is that higher doses of each make each more effective. However, never change multiple doses in the same 48 hours.
4. How Long Do You Treat?
Current practice is to treat almost all infections from 5 to 30 days. TB and leprosy would be treatments for years since they grow slowly. Many biting insect infections reproduce very slowly so they should be treated longer.
5. Do Not Forget the Biofilm!
Currently, we have had the #1 Biofilm book in print. It is for reference to look up an option not a thriller. Due to the medical board we did not go beyond facts and research. No hunches.
For over 20 years we have used volatile essential oils in two to three enteric or slow release or time release empty capsules to make them easy on the stomach and prevent burping them. Take them with food.
We have good evidence that significant doses of three essential oils significantly dissolve Bartonella’s biofilm. (See our 2026 Bartonella Textbook).
Please note: you may start on a weak oil but the goal is a volatile oil that burns your tongue 5-30 seconds if six drops are on your toothbrush.

6. No other Treatment? Huge Options are Coming.

In 2006, nobody wrote about the depression, panic, anxiety, insomnia and irritability that Bartonella caused until I wrote my first large psychiatry/ Bartonella article in MEDSCAPE GENERAL MEDICINE [free on this site].
