THE AUTHOR OF SEVEN BOOKS ON BABESIA WEIGHS IN
In the late 90s, my entire family and I had Babesia, Lyme, and Bartonella. I had to drink a double espresso every hour for 16 hours of work. My children could not get out of bed due to catastrophic fatigue. There was no infectious disease physician in our state or bordering states who had any evidence that they were studying, posting about, talking about, or publishing about Babesia.
I have the entire board study manual for board certification in infectious diseases. This is from a top medical training center well known in the USA. In some infections, it is impressive, and would cause me to use them for hundreds of infections in my continent. I do not have disrespect for these fine physicians.
They discuss protozoa. There are 65,000 species of these single-celled parasites. And 10,000 are parasites.
Common diseases caused by different protozoa that an infection doctor must know include:

Malaria: Caused by Plasmodium species, transmitted by mosquitoes, affecting red blood cells.

Amoebiasis (Amoebic Dysentery): From Entamoeba histolytica, causing severe diarrhea via contaminated water/food.

Giardiasis: Giardia lamblia infects the small intestine, leading to diarrhea, often from contaminated water.

Leishmaniasis: Leishmania parasites, transmitted by sandflies, causing skin sores or severe internal disease.

Toxoplasmosis: Toxoplasma gondii, affecting the brain, eyes, and lymph nodes, often from cat feces or undercooked meat.

Trichomoniasis: Trichomonas vaginalis, a common sexually transmitted infection.

Sleeping Sickness (African Trypanosomiasis): Trypanosoma brucei, transmitted by tsetse flies, affecting the central nervous system.

Chagas Disease: Trypanosoma cruzi, spread by kissing bugs, affecting the heart and digestive system.
- Cryptosporidiosis: Cryptosporidium, causing watery diarrhea, often waterborne.
I could find no dedicated hour to Babesia in the extensive infection board medicine to pass this board.

A few years ago, there was a world conference of Babesia experts on Zoom. 77 people attended, predominantly PhDs. Three doctors were present. One was a Lyme doctor offering excellent care since the late 1980’s. There was a doctor who seemed to be the one doctor controlling all treatment standards, repeatedly, perhaps in much of the world. And yours truly.
IN MY RESEARCH, I PROVED MOST BABESIA INFECTED PATIENTS FAIL HIS AUTHORITATIVE LOW SIMPLE TREATMENT. I am not saying everyone never feel better. And perhaps, some return to full function. But I have never seen this benefit in my patients. Who are never easy patients, I may be getting the worst of the worst?
