Who Is A Babesia, Lyme Disease, And Bartonella Expert?

Is the expert in these three unique infections someone trained in infectious diseases for two years?

Is everyone who took two extra years to learn how to treat a large variety of complex infections, also an expert in Bartonella and the co-infections Lyme disease and the single-celled parasite Babesia?

1. All physicians need to be very literate in infections in their area. In neurology and psychiatric illnesses, just Lyme disease alone has over 32 pages of single-spaced, peer-reviewed expert papers on its impact on psychiatric and neurological health. One of the leading Lyme disease researchers who was in tick infection medicine in a 1986 lecture series is a psychiatrist who runs the Tick Infection Research Center at Columbia Lyme Center. His Lyme textbook is exceptional (B. Fallon, MD).

2. I have focused on these three infections, and my goal in 2026 is to have 14 books on these three infections.

True experts in Lyme disease, Bartonella, and Babesia focus on these, not hundreds of diverse infections. We’re all finite, even if we have arrogant moments and act like a thought-control police. The notion that a doctor with zero textbooks on these three, repeatedly seeking to destroy another physician’s doctoral degree, five years of training, and years of experience as an attending, is sophomoric and a form of violent thought control. It is anti-science, and what these types of thought police really do is parade to millions of patients that they have immense empathic failure and that they are frozen in outdated knowledge. And such patients, at times, read more science than the doctor, devaluing other expertise.

Because, as with tennis, baseball, and football, you cannot be an expert in four sports and rarely in two. Among infectious disease physicians, it is clear that they know so little about Bartonella and the coinfections Lyme disease and Babesia that they cannot measure excellence. They seem to think that if a doctor is good at politics or in a position, they are elite. Who cares if you are on some expert committee or run a department at a well-known school? I call that a waste of limited time. Is this a high school? Medical politics and big-named position? Boring. Meaningless.

You are elite after 10,000 hours of training and experience. You are elite after decades of research, massive study, and solution creation. Do you think infections that evade the immune system with peerless skill in the modern medical age are defeated within 2-4 weeks? They have multiple forms, yet you only mention one. And you are confused and hostile when so many doctors and patients ignore you?

I have created books, films, cartoons, papers, etc., over decades, and millions spent in self-funded research to help infectious disease doctors move from unreasonable positions. But I was silly and naive.

Until your children are dying, or your spouse and many patients, I doubt you will read more than a lazy guideline or guidebook.

The good news is that fewer are listening to those treating 15,000 infections, and, by virtue of success and superior scholarship, others are being seen as leaders against “magic” medicine. I have published more texts on these three infections than….. The type that makes no money but saves lives and that teaches doctors how to start at S, not C.

I was recently reading the work of an excellent physician with strong skills, who primarily publishes on strep. He sells himself as a “Lyme disease expert.” Really?

Since I have a fascinating Destroy Depression book out in January 2026, I am reminded that so many think they are top psychiatrists, with 100 types of vocations, relatives, or friends who are experts on major depression—so many answers and so narrow, limited, and dated knowledge. Silly right?

Lyme politics is as bad. You read a terse guideline or take a few-day lecture series, and you are as good as Michael Jordan, Steph Curry, or Tiger Woods. The reality is that you have 9,980 more hours to become an “expert.”

And the true experts are reading 200 other people. Often.
