When we wrote the massive 2006 definitive text on Babesia, we talked about tafenoquine and even gave its research ID. So it is nice that almost two decades later it is being promoted. The bottom line:
- The only new malaria drug in 60 years so usually out of stock.
- It kills malaria for approximately a week, and I believe that likely happens with Babesia
- Massive dosing well over research and tafenoquine advocates dosing, BOLD THIS does not cure Babesia in 2-5 months when used on infected healthcare workers, e.g., physicians and nurses.
- Lyme physicians are notorious for finding IT treatments that cure. They are usually part correct.
- The use of FISH Babesia testing cannot be used *o determine cure. It determines severe infection and some good improvement if it moves from POSITIVE to NEGATIVE.
- DNA testing and/or smear review by other licensed labs show clear Babesia presence with most negative FISH results.
GOOD NEWS: It can be cured and just be aware, never by one treatment.
