JAMES SCHALLER DEATH REFLECTIONS ON A SHORT LIFE
All Men Die; Few Men Ever Really LIVE
The most dangerous man on earth is the man who has reckoned with his own death. All men die; few men ever really live. Sure, you can create a safe life for yourself . . . and end your days in a rest home babbling on about some forgotten misfortune. I'd rather go down swinging. Besides, the less we are trying to "save ourselves," the more effective a warrior we will be. Listen to G. K. Chesterton on courage:
Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die. "He that will lose his life, the same shall save it" is not a piece of mysticism for saints and heroes. It is a piece of everyday advice for sailors or mountaineers. It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of quite earthly or quite brutal courage. A man cut off by the sea may save his life if he will risk it on the precipice. He can only get away from death by continually stepping within an inch of it. A soldier surrounded by enemies, if he is to cut his way out, needs to combine a strong desire for living with a strange carelessness about dying. He must not merely cling to life, for then he will be a coward, and will not escape. He must not merely wait for death, for then he will be a suicide, and will not escape. He must seek his life in a spirit of furious indifference to it; he must desire life like water and yet drink death like wine.

The easy road is the way of safe money, safe work and easy living. In two months I could convert what I do to an immensely easy life. Is that your goal? Living an easy life? As I link arms and battle with many types of illness, impossible medical troubles, corruption, slavery, earthquake desolation, diseased minds ruining personalities, police sociopaths, mill medicine making MD non-surgical healers run from room to room with limited effectiveness, destroyed marketability due to useless education or education unable to seduce a generation to dig deep into study to be marketable to meet needs.
The world is changing and only those who want to be really meaningful will risk income, reputation and their lives.
I have no fear of death. Do you? You think this is a prize?
I have no need any longer for a reputation. I did for various good and silly reasons. But will do enough to allow myself to protect my family and allow my work to get enough of a hearing that in future years others will improve on it in real ways.
Now I only care about the opinions of a small treasured network of immensely wonderful people who are worth more to me that my own life. And all others are nothing or those to possibly help if directed.
I see many options in front of me, and most are so easy and relaxed, and the avoidance of suffering, the character disordered, socially useless, and mentally inflamed who attack in ways expected years earlier, and in ways simply sad. Is this a life? A life = not adding anything to humanity but undermining humanity. In the last three weeks I wrote two books and helped over 80 people in solid and real ways. What other actions would add to my use before I am gone? Perhaps more of the same, and some day for free when I am free of debt, or in areas where the need is 20x the first world societies in the majority or 2/3rds world. I am so blessed some are training me in my second medical training to be of use to them. People who have never been touched. People who I have helped and kissed who have had all their loved ones die under massive structures. What meaning and what a service over my limited first world ignorance.
What is life if not this? What is worthy of time greater than this? Chat rooms? Long TV time? Vast perfect emails on trivia? God forgive my wasted time in past years on massively useless matters. Trying to undermine people who do useful things who I do not like? Sad.
Massive changes are coming and not at all what is discussed with only a dash of concern in media touches on what is coming. It will be big, diffuse and show weakness and inner power.
It will be beyond you. Are you ready? Do you think you can really trust anything you can see fully?
The world as you know it is changing, and far faster and more powerfully than a mere person with their own "power" of hate and uncreative hearts will be able to handle.
Create, save, heal and build, or be wiped away in a sea of a life of nothingness.
We are all a mere mist, and your life that appears to have many years before you will be gone in a wink, faster than any of us imagine.
